The Brazilian photographer blends analog photography, postcards and NFTs to showcase his artistic work and explore the new possibilities of digital art and blockchain technology
Duo by Rinaldo Coelho
Rinaldo Coelho is a Brazilian photographer who explores the artistic potential of photography since his teenage years. He started with a Yashica camera that his father gave him, and later acquired Canon SLR cameras that he used to shoot events, musicians, artists and cultural scenes in Rio de Janeiro.
But his passion for photography goes beyond the commercial or journalistic aspects. He is also interested in capturing the beauty of simplicity, the strength of details, and the emotions of everyday life. He developed his skills in the analog lab, working with black-and-white film and creating fine art photography.
Triste by Rinaldo Coelho
He participated in his first exhibition in 1996, called “The Strength of a Detail”, which was inspired by his experience of helping a poor family in a shanty town. Since then, he has continued to develop his artistic work and deepen his studies in photography.
Rest by Rinaldo Coelho
In order to feel life, we are required to be always on the move. But only when we rest do we regain our strength and we rarely get to contemplate the beauty around us. A resting or simply fallen flower can help us think about the beauty of life and how fragile we are. Rinaldo Coelho
More recently, he has ventured into the digital world of blockchain photography and artificial intelligence, creating inventive reinterpretations of his own images. He joined the NFoTo Collection, a platform that showcases the work of Brazilian photographers using non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
Rinaldo Coelho also has created an innovative and pioneering “phygital” photography project that combines analog photography, postcards and NFTs. He sent postcards with his work “Duo” to a group of art enthusiasts who are part of the NFoTo Collection, a platform that showcases the work of Brazilian photographers using non-fungible tokens. The postcards also have a QR code that leads to his website where the NFTs of his work are available for purchase. The project aims to promote his artistic work and explore the new possibilities of digital art and blockchain technology.
Rinaldo Coelho is a photographer who uses photography (and restlessness) to highlight the beauty of simplicity.
