The award-winning photographer from Manaus (AM) works in various fronts with photography. He fosters education, cultural initiatives and events with his images. Now he enters a new phase with pioneering steps in NFT photography.

Michell Mello, 41 years old, is a photojournalist. He started his professional life in politics, in 2008. Later, he had his photographs published by newspapers such as O Repórter, À Tarde, Amazonas Em Tempo and A Crítica (as a freelancer). He had an active participation in photography, joining the Fotoclube, where he started his collective and individual exhibitions, such as Curumins & Cunhantãs (2010) and A Velha Manaus Moderna (2011), through the experience with sociocultural activities. He has taught workshops in some municipalities and riverside communities of Amazonas.

He participated in the 2010 and 2021 editions of the Best of Brazilian Photojournalism. He has had his photos distributed by agencies such as Estado, Futura Press, Getty Image, magazines such as Quem, Empório Amazônia, Voar na Amazônia Brasil, Fotografe Melhor, Floresta Brasil, among others.

He received awards such as the V Nilton Lins Journalism Award 2009 - 3rd place with the work “A look at the childhood that poverty does not erase”. 3rd Sony Fotografe Melhor Contest 2010 - 1st place with the image of riverside people that portrays the joy of Brazil. He also received an honorable mention at the Abaf Photography Award RJ - with the photo theme “The banana tree”, by the Brazilian Association of Photographic Art RJ 2013. From 2014 until today, he has been dedicated to works focused on social events with a greater focus on weddings.
Since 2018, Mello decided to foster photography in the State of Amazonas by creating the Monóculo Portrait School and has been developing participatory activities such as: workshops, exhibitions, the Monóculo Image Award, Café Monóculo, with informal chats, photographic journeys , gincanas and curations. These activities give opportunities for photographers and generate new experiences, either in the organization or in the participation of events that have united the class of professional and amateur photographers and filmmakers.

Today, Michell is a councilor of Culture of Visual Arts and New Media of the State of Amazonas, representing civil society, and has worked to receive the demand of the segment and contribute to the construction of public policies for the state cultural plan of the State. One of his most recent achievements is having his works in the NFoTo collection, a platform that connects photographers and collectors through NFTs. NFoTo is a pioneer in Brazil in offering digital art photography authenticated by blockchain technology. Michell’s photos capture the beauty and diversity of Amazonas and its people, and are now available for anyone who appreciates his work and wants to support him as an artist.
