Brazilian portraitist established herself as a portrait photographer and now sees her work celebrated in the capital of the world
Photos by Néia Moresco in highlight at Times Square The gaúcha photographer Néia Moresco had her photos exhibited on one of the largest screens at Times Square in New York last Wednesday (14)! The work presented on the screen is from the photographs of the exhibition “Literary Essence” that was on display at Delta Bookstore at Passo Fundo Shopping. A recognition of Brazilian photography and literature since the theme of the photos is precisely about writers from Rio Grande do Sul and their works.
Néia Moresco has more than 30 years of photography and has become a recognized portrait brand. About the fact that her photos are shown in New York she commented: “Very happy to see this project of the exhibition being celebrated at Times Square in NY. Valuing and disseminating my art and Brazilian literature to the whole world”.
Literary Essence - The theme of the photos is about the 18 local personalities (from Passo Fundo, RS) with important contributions to the literature of the region. Néia’s portraits show these relevant figures of culture and at the same time celebrate the value and love for local literature.
“This work, idealized in 2019, aimed to value everyone involved in literary art, bringing together all the senses and feelings linked to this process.
Making the photographic record of these stories, feeling the work, the holistic involvement of those who express themselves and are guided by what they write and read, was a magnificent experience. With simple and strong images, the cultural legacy of these participants, the universe of words felt and experienced needed to be translated into image, and from this movement, results in the exhibition that today is here.
It is with great emotion that I was part of the elaboration and development of this idea and it is with even more joy that today we present in this space, the result that, despite time, remains innovative, because reading and writing that move the feeling and knowledge of those who get involved with it, never fades”. Néia Moresco.
